One of the aspects of planning a wedding included having our engagement photoshoot. This was one of my favorite parts of planning for our wedding. The excitement of finding a location to shoot, a dress designer to make a custom dress for me, and having my hair and makeup done were all for the most part stress-free. Our wedding planner, Kenya of PMBK Events, along with our photographer, Fotos by Fola, scouted far and wide for the best location that mirrored the vision I had for this shoot. The vision (or theme I should say) was royal, classy, and highly regal, and based on the final pictures, they got it SPOT ON! 

It took about two months to plan for this shoot, with the major task being securing a location! We initially considered traveling outside of Georgia to places like Miami, Florida or up north to New Jersey as these two places have plenty of the regal scenery that we wanted. Thankfully, the Candler Hotel in Atlanta opened its doors right on time and my goodness, if you ever get the chance to make it to Atlanta and are looking for a top-notch hotel, this is your place. It exuded everything we wanted and had been looking for to have the photoshoot so with our wedding planner’s assistance, we were good to go. 

My dresses were custom made (which was an amazing experience)! I had never worked with the seamstress, Ms. Anita, before but had been following her work online for some time. Who knew I’d be next to grace her designs?! She went above and beyond on my vision and made sure they were delivered on time for the shoot. The key here is to make sure you give your vendors a date that is at least three weeks before you actually need the material. International orders…you know. I had other ladies who contacted me asking if she was legitimate and surely I gave them great feedback with my experience. I also made sure that my outfits would compliment my husband’s suit colors perfectly. 

It was also nice and pampering to have had my hair and makeup done professionally for the first time in a while. I recommend this to anyone who has a big event coming up. Save yourself the hassle and have it done professionally by reputable artists.
