As an introverted person, the initial thought of the quarantine did not seem like a challenge. Why? I didn’t mind staying at home for a few days at a time to relax indoors—until now. Today marks day 7 and we found ourselves slowly running out of things to do. I’ve came up with a fun list of things you can do while social distancing during this Coronavirus quarantine. #3 is my favorite.
Get Your Creative Juices Flowing
This is the perfect time to start that new hobby that you’ve always wanted to start but always put aside due to work or other daily activities. While you are indoors, pick up that paint brush, turn that pottery wheel, or write that poem or book you’ve been itching to start. If your crotchet kit has been collecting dust, wipe it off and spark that interest once more. If not now, then when? Trust me, you have more time now than ever to put your hobbies into action.
Apply for a New Job
If you have been itching to make your next career move, now is a great time to do so. Not only can you utilize the time you have at home to sharpen your resume, update your LinkedIn, and re-brand yourself, but you can also take this opportunity to interview from home. Since everyone is in quarantine, companies are more inclined to conduct a virtual interview with you which could make the hiring process easier for both parties.
Start Working on Your Health
With winter season out of the question, the sun is shining and the weather is warming up. Don’t let the quarantine distract you from your summer bod goals. You know the saying “summer bodies are made in the winter,” well I’ll challenge you to think of this quarantine as a time to monitor your eating habits. Yes, I know trips to the kitchen may be more frequent these days since we are home all day, but try to stay focused. Eventually, we will all have to emerge outside and return to our daily activities so how will you make your comeback?
Rearrange Your Finances
The downtime I’ve had has really given me the opportunity to closely monitor my expenses throughout this year so far. Like me, you probably set a new year’s goal to revamp your financial lifestyle. I’m taking advantage of this downtime from traveling for work to invest the extra time I have into realigning my finances, reviewing my spending thus far, and taking action on the goals that I have for myself. I encourage you to start that learning more about finances like investing your savings into accounts that will earn you more overtime. Remember, keeping your money in the bank is not the best way to make it grow.
Connect with Family and Friends
Just because we can’t meet up for brunch, go to the movies or a sporting event, doesn’t mean we still can’t keep our relationships afloat. Try not to isolate yourself too much during this time. Reach out to family members who you’ve been saying you’ll reach out to for the longest time. Call your friends every so often to check on them. There are many ways to still see your friends and luckily most of the apps we currently use to socialize have video calling capabilities such as FaceTime, WhatsApp Video, SnapChat, and Instagram among others. When we all come out of this quarantine, we surely will enjoy every moment of physical human interactions.
